At around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Yuri Cristel, a 30-year-old woman from Huimanguillo, Tabasco, was found dead inside her home in the Infonavit El Rosario neighborhood of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. The prime suspect in the crime was her children’s stepfather.
The gruesome discovery occurred when neighbors entered the home and saw the young mother, who was a seamstress, half-burned and lying face up on a partially burned armchair.
The first lines of investigation point to Carlos “N,” the stepfather of two of Yuri Cristel’s children, as the prime suspect.
According to witness accounts, Yuri and Carlos “N” constantly argued because she maintained a cordial relationship with the father of her children, a situation that bothered the prime suspect and may have motivated him to commit the crime
According to sources close to her, Yuri had already tried to separate from Carlos on several occasions, but he always managed to emotionally manipulate her into resuming the relationship.
The day before the crime, Yuri contacted a relative in a clearly distressed state. “I’m scared… if something happens to me, you know why,” were the young woman’s last words before she was found dead.
Yuri Cristel was the mother of three children, who are now orphaned. She worked as a seamstress in Tuxtla Gutiérrez and had lived in the area for years. It should be noted that the alleged perpetrator has already been arrested by authorities.
